Convergences 2015 is a discussion forum aimed at bringing about new convergences between the private and public sectors and social business. Its objective is to contribute to setting up a sustainable development strategy for effectively reducing extreme poverty worldwide, as set out in the Millennium Development Goals in 2000.

Launched in 2008, Convergences 2015 has become an essential European meeting point for all development actors. Initially focused on microfinance, its scope was enlarged to the field of social business, to include a wide range of solutions for the reduction of extreme poverty.

For the third edition, 1 100 experts and practitioners from the private sector, the social economy, the finance sector, civil society and the public sector took part in roundtable meetings to discuss the following issues :

Structuring and funding social business throughout the next decade
Microfinance, back to basics: long-term value for low income clients
Economic development and microfinance in Africa: how to move forward ?
Social reinsertion and entrepreneurship: developing microcredit in France

A special emphasis was placed on Africa, which will allow numerous participants from the African continent to share their experience of local challenges and opportunities.

The eight Millennium Development Goals

End poverty and hunger

Achieve universal primary education

Promote gender equality and empower women

Reduce child mortality
