© Raphaël de Bengy / Convergences 2015Initiated by ACTED, the Credit Coopératif and the City of Paris, supported by over 40 partners, the Forum Convergence 2015 gathered 3,000 people from 3 to 5 May 2011 during its 4th edition in Paris with the shared goal of contributing to the emergence of new solidarities in the North and the South to reach the Millennium Development Goals.
During three days, public operators, the private sector, including multinational companies as well as social entrepreneurs, and representatives of the civil society exchanged ideas, experiences, best practices and prospects on innovative ways of financing and contributing to sustainable poverty reduction.
The diversity of partners committed to this Forum, the many proposals formulated by over 200 speakers, the expertise of those involved in microfinance, social entrepreneurship, international cooperation, fair trade and social economy, the dialogue between operators from the South and the North, and the contribution of all 3,000 participants contributed to identifying Convergences 2015 as the French Davos of new solidarities.
Convergences 2015 combines actors and sectors certainly very differen,t but all united by the will to act, to invest around human capital. These exchanges shall contribute to improving the commitment and the joint impact of multiple actors committed to a fairer and more sustainable world.
The three days of discussion led to the emergence of a consensus for the development of new fundings for international solidarity, a change of scale of social entrepreneurship, and for more responsible microfinance with the launch of the Paris Appeal (www.appeldeparis.org).
